So many holidays AGAIN!

What's with that? There are, like, a million holidays today, too! I mean, it's cool and all, but I'm kinda getting overwhelmed here. It's hard to celebrate all of these at once, people. :) For one thing, it's Peach Blossom Day. But it's also National Anthem Day...I'm not sure if this is a national holiday celebrating all anthems or a smaller holiday celebrating national anthems...somebody research this and get back to me. ;) And it's also I Want To Make You Happy Day. So...please, somebody make me happy by singing a (national) anthem about peach blossoms, and we'll be all set. Oh, and I was also told (falsely) by my homeroom teacher and a student in said homeroom, both of whom were dressed up, that it was Dress Professionally Day, and didn't I get the memo. Well, no. No, I didn't. Also, I would like to state that even if that is a real holiday, which I doubt, it wasn't today, even if it was written (this morning, as I watched) on the calendar of my homeroom teacher.

...Whatever.

...I also doubt that the other holiday my homeroom teacher deemed today to be, "Thank God Cats Taste Like Chicken Day," exists. At least I hope not. I am about 99% sure he made that up on the spot, but there is always that nagging thread of doubt...okay, I'm 100% sure. Nagging thread? Gone!

So, anyway...today's Words From The Hallway are from the Say What? category! My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :)

"What if we give them gills?" Would you like fries with those gills? Or just mayonnaise?

"Hey, guess what, I'm a blowfish!" How very nice for you.

"No campaigning in class!" Oh, so you'll allow mowing the fish in class, but campaigning is out? That seems a bit unfair! ...who would possibly want to mow a fish in class, I have no idea, but I can only assume it's allowed. If not, I think I'm going to sue. Although I usually mow my fish at the library. Hmm.

Person 1: "When I come back, there'd better be chicken and rejoicing."
Person 2: "Those things do usually go hand in hand." Oh, indubitably.

Happy Everything Day!

Okay, it's not really Everything Day. But it seems like it! I mean, for one thing, it's Wednesday. That in and of itself is cool; am I right or am I left? But it's also Read Across America Day!!!! Woot! (Hence the BFG reference--a book by Roald Dahl, in which the Big Friendly Giant frequently gets his words all muddled, asking things like 'am I right or am I left?') And, it's Dr. Seuss's 107th birthday!!!! Happy b-day to you, Ted Geisel! Go speak for those trees that have stars upon thars whilst hopping upon pops and seeing if oh, say, can you say. ...or something. Oh yeah, and make sure your cat in his hat doesn't eat all of your red fish blue fish. :)

Yyyeah. Anyway. Today's Words are from the Rather Duh-Inspiring category! My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :)

"They eat all the bread in my house which makes them carnivores. I mean cannibals." Same thing, really.

Person 1: "Look, sis! A cat!"
Person 2: "That's a newspaper."
Person 1: "Oh." ...see previous comment.

"Yes, explosion is generally seen as a negative reaction." Says you.

Person 1: "Ew--you had fish for dinner? That's why you were sick!"
Person 2: "I had a migraine!" ...Your point?

The Real Impossible Question

So, you know how, in both well-known movies and in the actual book of Alice in Wonderland/Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (movie titles and book title, respectively), the Mad Hatter asks "Why is a raven like a writing desk?" He asks that in all the possible versions of this story--but never answers it.

!

This has got to be some sort of code, or something. Well, maybe not. But, seriously, sure he's mad, but why would Lewis Carroll feel the need to drive us mad too, trying to figure out the answer? Someone at my school wrote that question on the "Movie Quotes Whiteboard," earning the response of an anonymous commenter armed with a green marker, saying that "Poe wrote on both." That's pretty good. I always thought it was just because of the inky feathers on both (considering the time period in which Alice's Adventures in Wonderland was written)...any other opinions?

...well, while you chew on that...today's Words are from the category of Say What? My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :D

"We need some duct tape so we can voodoo Abby." Duct Tape Voodoo. For when you thought your voodoo wouldn't hold up under X-TREME CIRCUMSTANCES. Or for when your voodoo just isn't manly enough.

"OH! I forgot to tell you guys! I discovered a new voice inside my head!" What did I say about not telling people about those anymore?

"Did Donald eat his trombone case?" Again? Oh, wait, no, his stomach just has really long, skinny things sticking out on either side so it looks like he ate a trombone case. It's probably the actual trombone. My bad!

"That is such a rip-off of Holly taking over the world with cheese sticks." If I had a dollar for every time I've heard that...

National Clam Chowder Day!

Happy National Clam Chowder Day to everybody!!!! ...I've never actually had clam chowder. I'm just really excited about this holiday because it's so utterly random. ;)

So, anyway. Today's Words are from the Fairly Mean category! My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :D

"He only drools when he tries to think." A commendable achievement.

"It's easier to duck out of the way and it sails past and hits Brittany." True dat.

"[teacher] If this isn't the classic response for our class, I don't know what is: 'Eric, are you jealous of that belt?' 'I don't even like to read!'" Is there something wrong with that response?

Person 1: "For once we are not laughing next to you; we are laughing at you."
Person 2: "For once?" We would be laughing with you...but you're not laughing.

No need to thank me. ;)

Mmm. Delicious.

But anyway. Today's Words are from the Say What? category! My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :)

"Did you say farmer gymnast?" Duh. Don't you grow lima beans while doing aerials on balance beams? Who doesn't, really?

"And she proclaimed me the official coatrack." How exciting for you.

"Poncho Man--to your rescue!" No. Just...no.

"Here, let me drop a philosophy bomb." Pschow! If a tree claps one hand in the forest, is it like a fish needing a bicycle? Boom. Just blew your mind.

Hello, all! This is the it's-very-late-ish-and-I-still-have-to-do-the-dishes short intro! Random pictures to be inserted here to distract from the lacking quality of this introduction!!! :D

So, anyway. Today's Words From The Hallway are from the Rather Duh-Inspiring category! My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :)

"They're the more dominant...um...they eat you." Same dif, right?

"Seriously, if a brick is coming right at you, you probably want to duck." Or goose. But I find that penguining is definitely the most effective against flying bricks.

"In tennis there are various of the same." True dat.

"It is very informationable." Oh yeah? Your face is informationable! ...that's probably not too much of an insult, actually. NVM!

Happy Monday to all, and to all a Happy Monday! ...apparently we are being redundantly redundant. Oh, and Happy Presidents' Day, and Happy Love Your Pets Day! Especially love your pets if they share their names with presidents of past/present.

Or something. Whatevs. So, anyway, today's WFTH are from the category of Say What? My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :)

"Don't think, 'I'll just sit back and be a slug.'" Actually be a slug! Go for your dreams! Shoot for the slime!

"And something about her dungeon and how I think it was Michelle or you has to rattle your tin cup against the bars for the first part of the plan?" Oh, yes, yes of course. Now it all makes sense. Except not at all.

"I love how the eyes go with the music." Don't we all.

"As it is not about sharks, it is also not about juvie." Sharks in juvie, however? Definitely.
